Before You Delete

We are sorry to see you go. Before you proceed, we want to make sure you understand exactly what happens when your Shipshape account is deleted. This is a permanent action, and most of the data cannot be recovered.

Here is what gets removed:

  • All of your home data. Every appliance, system, and piece of equipment that has been logged in your home profile will be permanently deleted.
  • Your equipment history. Service records, maintenance logs, installation dates, and condition notes will all be erased.
  • Sensor data. Any monitoring data collected by your Shipshape sensors, including historical readings, trends, and anomaly records, will be permanently removed.
  • Your Home Health Record. This is the comprehensive profile of your home that SAM has been building over time. Once deleted, it cannot be recovered or rebuilt.
  • Your Home Health Score. Your score and all the data behind it will be gone.
  • Active monitoring subscription. Any paid monitoring subscription will be cancelled. You will not be charged going forward, but no partial refunds are issued for the current billing period.
  • Service professional access. Your service professional will no longer have access to your home's data, alerts, or history.

Consider Reaching Out First

If you are thinking about deleting your account because something is not working right, we would love the chance to help. Common issues that feel like deal-breakers often have simple fixes:

  • Too many notifications? You can customize exactly what SAM tells you about in Settings. See our notification settings guide.
  • Not using the app much? That is actually fine. SAM works in the background and will reach out when something matters. You do not need to check in regularly.
  • Having a technical issue? Our support team can troubleshoot sensor problems, app glitches, and connectivity issues.
  • Moving to a new home? You can transfer your Shipshape system to the new owner or set up a fresh profile at your new address. No need to delete.
  • Changing service professionals? Your account is yours, not your pro's. You can switch providers without losing any of your home data.

Contact Shipshape support before deleting. We may be able to resolve whatever is driving the decision.

How to Delete Your Account

If you have decided to move forward, here is how:

  1. Open the Shipshape app on your phone.
  2. Tap the Menu icon (three lines in the top corner).
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Account.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  6. Read the summary of what will be deleted.
  7. Tap Confirm Deletion.
  8. You may be asked to enter your password one final time to verify your identity.

After confirming, you will receive a confirmation email at the address associated with your account.

The 7-Day Grace Period

Account deletion is not instant. After you confirm, your account enters a 7-day grace period before the deletion is processed.

During this window:

  • Your account is deactivated. You will not be able to log in.
  • SAM will stop sending you notifications.
  • Your service professional will lose access to your home's data.
  • No monitoring alerts will be generated.

If you change your mind within those 7 days, contact Shipshape support and we can cancel the deletion and restore your account. After the 7-day period ends, the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What About the Hardware?

If your Shipshape system was installed by a service professional, the sensors and gateway hardware remain your property. Deleting your account does not change that.

However, once your account is deleted, the hardware will no longer have an account to report to. It will stop transmitting data and will not function as part of the Shipshape monitoring system.

You have a few options for the hardware:

  • Leave it in place. The sensors are non-intrusive and will not interfere with anything. They simply will not be active.
  • Remove it yourself. Shipshape sensors are designed to be snap-on, so removal is straightforward and does not require tools or professional help in most cases.
  • Coordinate with your service professional. If you prefer, your pro can remove the hardware during a regular service visit.

If you are selling your home and the new owner wants to use Shipshape, the hardware can be transferred to their new account. Contact support to arrange this.

Alternative: Deactivate Instead of Delete

If you want to take a break from Shipshape without losing everything, there is another option. You can deactivate monitoring while keeping your account and all of your home data intact.

With a deactivated account:

  • Your Home Health Record and all historical data are preserved.
  • SAM stops sending alerts and notifications.
  • Your monitoring subscription is paused.
  • You can reactivate at any time and pick up right where you left off.

This is a good option if you are not sure whether you want to leave permanently. To deactivate instead of delete, contact Shipshape support and let them know you would like to pause your account.

Data and Privacy

Shipshape takes your privacy seriously. When your account is deleted:

  • All personal data associated with your account is permanently removed from our systems.
  • Anonymized, aggregated data (such as statistics about equipment lifespans across all homes) may be retained, but it cannot be traced back to you.
  • We comply with all applicable data protection regulations.

If you have questions about how your data is handled, our privacy policy is available on our website, or you can contact support for specifics.
