Free Tier

The free tier gives you access to the core Shipshape experience at no cost. It is a great way to get started and see the value of having a digital record of your home.

What's included:

  • Home Health Record with manual data entry for your equipment
  • Basic equipment inventory to catalog your major systems and appliances
  • SAM chatbot for answering general home maintenance questions
  • Help center articles covering maintenance tips, troubleshooting, and home care
  • Home Health Score based on the information you provide

The free tier is ideal if you want to start building your home's digital profile without any commitment. You can add equipment, log service visits, and ask SAM questions about your home. The main limitation is that data entry is manual. You will not receive automatic alerts or real-time monitoring.

Monitored Tier (With Hardware)

The monitored tier is where Shipshape really shines. With snap-on sensors and a gateway installed in your home, SAM becomes a full-time home health monitor.

How Hardware Gets Installed

The monitoring hardware is typically installed by your service professional. The process is quick, non-invasive, and does not require any modifications to your existing systems.

Here is what happens during a typical installation:

  1. Your service professional schedules a visit (usually 20 to 30 minutes)
  2. They install the Shipshape gateway, which connects your sensors to the cloud
  3. Snap-on sensors are placed on key systems like your HVAC, water heater, and electrical panel
  4. Everything is connected and tested before the technician leaves
  5. SAM begins learning your home's patterns immediately

The hardware is included with your monitoring plan. There is no separate equipment purchase required.

How to Check Your Current Plan

  1. Open the Shipshape Home app

  3. Go to Settings
  4. Tap Subscription

How to Upgrade

Ready to move from the free tier to full monitoring? There are two ways to upgrade:

  • Contact your service professional and ask about Shipshape monitoring. They can enroll you and schedule an installation visit.
  • Contact Shipshape support directly. We can help you find a service professional in your area if you do not already have one connected.

Upgrading is seamless. Your existing Home Health Record, equipment inventory, and service history carry forward. Nothing is lost.

Managed Subscriptions

If your service professional enrolled you in Shipshape, your subscription may be managed through their business. In this case:

  • Your provider handles billing and plan details
  • Contact them directly for questions about charges or plan changes
  • Your Shipshape experience is identical to a direct subscription

You can always check your subscription status in the app under Settings → Subscription to see how your plan is managed.

Cancellation

You can cancel your Shipshape subscription at any time. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.

What happens when you cancel:

  • Your monitoring stops, and sensors go inactive
  • Your Home Health Record and all historical data are retained for 30 days
  • After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted unless you reactivate
  • The monitoring hardware installed in your home is yours to keep
