It is a comprehensive, always-up-to-date record of every major system and piece of equipment in your home, along with its age, condition, service history, and monitoring data. But its value goes beyond your own day-to-day use. Sharing your HHR with the right people can save you money, increase your home's value, and make life easier for everyone involved in caring for your property.

Who Should You Share It With?

Service Professionals

When your service professional has access to your HHR, they can see your full equipment inventory, alert history, and past service records before they ever step foot in your home.

Why this matters:

  • They arrive prepared with the right parts and knowledge
  • No more explaining your home's history from scratch every visit
  • They can spot patterns across service visits that you might miss
  • Faster, more accurate diagnoses save you time and money

If you are connected to a service professional through Shipshape, they automatically have access to your home's information. No extra sharing step is needed.

Insurance Providers

A well-documented, actively monitored home is a lower-risk home. Your HHR can serve as evidence of responsible home maintenance, which some insurance providers recognize.

How your HHR can help with insurance:

  • Demonstrates that major systems are maintained and monitored
  • Shows proactive replacement of aging equipment before failure
  • Provides documentation of your home's condition at any point in time
  • May support claims for premium discounts on homeowner's insurance

To share with your insurance provider, export a PDF report from the app. This creates a clean, professional document summarizing your home's health.

How to Share Your Home Health Record

Sharing is straightforward. Open the Shipshape Home app and follow these steps:

  1. Go to Home on the main screen
  2. Tap Share Home Health Record
  3. Choose your sharing method:

PDF Export

  • Generates a downloadable PDF report
  • Includes equipment inventory, age, condition, maintenance history, Home Health Score, and monitoring status
  • Ideal for insurance providers, real estate agents, or anyone who needs a snapshot in time
  • You can email or print the PDF directly from the app

Invite a User

  • Send an invitation to another person's email address
  • They create a Shipshape account (or log in to an existing one) to view your home
  • Best for family members or anyone who needs ongoing access

Provider Access

  • Connects your home to a service professional's Shipshape dashboard
  • They see your equipment, alerts, and service history in real time
  • This is typically set up during onboarding, but you can add additional providers here

Access Levels

When you share your HHR, you control how much the other person sees. Choose from three access levels:

  • Full View grants access to everything: equipment details, sensor data, alerts, service history, Home Health Score, and monitoring status. Best for trusted service professionals and close family members.

  • Equipment Only shows your equipment inventory with make, model, and age, but does not include sensor data, alert history, or detailed service records. Good for insurance providers or buyers who need the basics.

  • Summary Only provides a high-level overview with your Home Health Score and general home condition. Useful for casual sharing, like showing a neighbor or friend what Shipshape does.

Revoking Access

You are always in control of who sees your information. To revoke access:

  1. Go to Home → Share Home Health Record
  2. Tap Manage Access
  3. Find the person or provider you want to remove
  4. Tap Revoke Access

Access is removed immediately. They will no longer be able to view any of your home's information.

PDF exports, once downloaded, cannot be revoked since they exist as standalone files. Keep this in mind when choosing your sharing method.

What Is Included in a Shared Report

Whether you share via PDF or user invite, the recipient sees a comprehensive view of your home's health:

  • Equipment inventory with make, model, serial number, and install date
  • Age and condition for each piece of equipment
  • Maintenance history showing every logged service visit
  • Home Health Score with a breakdown of contributing factors
  • Monitoring status showing whether the home is actively monitored
  • Alert history (if full view access is granted)

All of this information is presented in a clear, easy-to-read format. The recipient does not need to be tech-savvy to understand it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data secure when I share it? Yes. Shared access is encrypted and controlled through your account. Only the people you explicitly grant access to can see your information.

Can I share with multiple people at the same time? Absolutely. You can have multiple family members, a service professional, and export PDFs for your insurance company all at the same time.

Does sharing cost anything extra? No. Sharing your HHR is included with every Shipshape account at no additional charge.

What if the person I shared with no longer needs access? Revoke their access at any time through the Manage Access screen. It takes effect immediately.

Can my service professional share my data with others? No. Your service professional can view your home's information for the purpose of providing service, but they cannot share it with third parties without your consent.
